OK, not as smooth as the "special tool" but certainly just as effective (if not more so)
Old half of motion sheft from imp transaxle (plenty duffer lying around) chopped short and some duct tape wrapped at sharp end. Used this on ooddles of cars.
Just watch the actual spigot bush is OK, if not change it while you are in there, the original shaft lets you have a feel of how good a condition it is in. If the shaft flops around, change the bush.
