  • Difference in early Mk 1 and M2 Dash Panels Hillman Imp

A common question as regards Imp Dash and often cause for confusion

So just adding a note here

Early MK 1 dash areas are sometimes called "metal ended" as the right hand side of the binnacle (assuming RHD vehcile) has no pad and only painted.

See two examples of MK 1 dash here

And examples of a MK 2 binnacles (end 64 onwards)

Main difference is the method of mounting the binnacle, the early ones bolts upwards from underneath and is capped with a thing cover plate.

The later binnacle the top cover plate and mounting hardware is a single unit and bolts horizontally onto the square surface on the front

Here it is in the parts manual, this is quite confusing as it shows all options in one drawing but the binnacles are quite different and cannot be swapped without some effort
