Body Panel - Suggested replacement panel for rear lower corner
Recomendations on fitting panels from various sources, this is not guess work this is a result of actually doing the job with various supplier panels, making panels 9or trying to from scratch) and the experience gained and lessons learned.
Other owners / restorers can provide their own experiences.
The problem is shown here, Imps tend to rot out completely here so I mention this panel first as one of the panels to get used to replacing !
Which in itself is a mess and it looked OK to begin with, here is how bad it was under neath ! ready to go in the bin !
Several panels were tried.
Chris Farrens fibreglass ones were actually great however lining surface to surface at a joint was a pain so the idea was dropped . OK for a budget repair but not a resto.
Second panels i tried were hand made ones from Radford. Sorry Radford but way too much needed to fit, lengths were wrong, form at rear end was wrong and the curves not same left / right.
My advice is unless you can get these cheap and i mean cheap or if they are the only option, look elsewhere on this panel.
My own preference is the panel L/H REAR CORNER REPAIR IMP9 and 10 from EXPRESSED STEEL PANELS
EXPRESSED STEEL PANELS - IMP09 R/H REAR CORNER REPAIR
EXPRESSED STEEL PANELS - IMP10 L/H REAR CORNER REPAIR
