I did note this on the build thread for DDG 220C but skimmed over it, Bob Allan at Imp Club Spares picked up on it and I promised a few images of how it fitted.
Bob Allan can supply nearly all of your parts neeeds for your car but the Imp Club Spares service is a membership only service so you need to be a member of The Imp Club to us it.
Bob does a huge amount of research on alternative parts so he can at least help with alternatives if non exist so was curious on this one.
The universal lever was sourced from Car Bulder Solutions although many places sell the same lever.
I went this route as the amount of effort in refurbishing the existing hanbrake lever was more in materials (rivets, pawl and primer/paint !)
It is NOT however a drop in replacement for the imp ! but certainly a viable alternative
Differences
1. Bolt holes are not the same.
The pitch between the fixing holes is the same as the imp but the positions are not 100% compatible, see image below, the bends in the fixing tangs for the universal one are on same side, where as the imp original is offset on other side.
The material when you see the "foot" just gives me the impression it would have broken if I had tried to bend it over the other way, in which case it would have fitted straight in,
On reflection I could have just welded a new piece on opposite site and used imp mount points rather than add a new bolt however like many other trial and error experiments it is a voyage of discovery and one it was done, it worked well so I never pulled it out to change it, plus I already drilled the other hole
Perhaps a fitting kit could be made ? new mount point and new barrel for mount the handbrake cables (see below point 2)
2. The lower lever position and width is slightly different and will fit with an additional few washers as spacers and the supplied holes enlarged a bit to suit.
View from under in raised and lower lever positions.
On mine I used the upper hole provided in case I needed to trim the lower part for the gear lever shaft which in the end was not needed and use of the lower point would be a better position leverage wise.
The softer feel on te handbrake lever feels good though
All is working on DDG 220C anyway.
