    Steering column

Sorry if this is a daft question Is there a grommet in the body where the inner column and the rack come through the floor.
    best regards Gary

Good question Gary as I am in the process of fitting my steering column and I cant remember there being one there either. Saying that it was removed so long ago.

I was actually thinking of cutting up a piece of rubber with a suitably sized hole in it for the column and use it like a gasket against the bottom of the outer column tube.

    Cheers
    Col.

Correct fellas, no grommet or even a dust cover, reason why the insides of those get so crusty, seen plenty rot out the tubes at bottom.

I fitted a bit of neoprene as a dust cover/gasket and threw some grease around the shaft, ugly but at least a bit better, surprising more crap dows not get in their.

Next time I do it though I was thinking of using one of these door bottom draught excluders with long bristles and forming it into a ringaround the shaft, would work as a retrofit as well

Some good quality foam greased up just bunged in the hole works as well (my previous solution)
