  • Stub axles - differences.

Were there any substantial difference MK 1 to Mk2 and onwards stb axles, I found part numbers for them but other than stub pin/bush/grease points were they actually chamfered or adjusted for camber ? with respect to say the fixing bolts being in horizontal plane ?

The stub axles on the chammy are MK 1 ones but modified for decamber washer and also grease points have been added as well,

Was thinking of heading to storage and seeing if I have a good set of stub axles from later car, I have plenty new pin/bush sets but not sure if the axls I have kept are any good. Plus I would need to get them cleaned, one of the down sides of not having our media blast cabinet any more it was rumoured it was my favourite tool

the only difference is the length of king pin and the grease nipple adding on later ones , they all fit any front wishbone from and age car.
You cant really swap the pins or mix and match early / late stub axle parts because of this

Thats what I thought, I have the pins in both sizes, but I came across a few places that reckon the angles were different when they changed high to low pivot

So from the loads of stuff written in the ether there was really 3 changes banded around

      Pivot point
      Length on wishbone
      Angle of stub axle.

Can probably put one on the bench and measure using the inc. but it is still too wet and cold to go rumaging about in the storage containers to get some later stubs.

Thats assuming I have any later ones that are decent that is !
