  • Replacement screw in fuel senders - Alternative

At the time i was looking for fuel senders i found that out the 7 or so I had lying around all had issues on the winding so would be flaky at one point, the wiper / rheostat is worn in nearly all of these and NOS ones are getting expensive.

New ones are still available, Bob Allan at Club Spares can supply however they feel flimsy.

So I bought one of these and so far resistance wise seems same as Imp, guage tracks very well

This has the added benefit of a LOW FUEL terminal as well

The PCD is a perfect fit

    So PCD FIT - YES

Resiatnce range High to Low - OK

Low Fuel warning - Mod time - BONUS in adding just one wire, how accurate, to be seen

Best bonus is price, Only £24 plus shipping for a new one.

Unless you are completely proper resto-orientated it seems a good deal.

Only down side is you have to bend / set the new float level / angle by hand first as it is "universal" however after that all gravy as they say.

The new replacement "originals" I had to set the float height on anyway !

I have one to fit in DDG so will report back when actually fitted (and working)

      Dan

If it came with new screws I have lost them and they would likely be metric anyway ! comes with a gasket but I prefer the ones Bob Allan at Club Spares supplies.

This came from Car Builder Solutions. £45 for a NOS imp one or fit this and get a low fuel lamp (I can fit a blue led now ) it is a saving, not much but an alternative.

Screw wise we broke an old MPM3030 paste printer and I use the hex head UNF screws from that instead of the ones the imp originally has. I can see if I have more lying around if you want some.

yes please john, no worries if not. I like the idea of the warning light, and I think the magnet from bob picton's filter is holding the original float down. I've got a car builder order to make so I will add one to the basket.

Earlier in the build I opted for a much less expensive 6 hole sender unit from Car Builder Solutions which has an extra feature a "fuel low" indicator.

Did not see much point in it to begin with but it was just one extra wire to put in the new loom.

I always keep the tank full(ish) as imp guages are not to be trusted however hey ho.

In any event I put a gallon can of fuel in before nipping out here and their, nice to see the fuel light come on now, done 35 miles or so from empty with one can of fuel

Lamp can now be considered time to fuel or else as tank must be getting empty by now !
