  • stamps on (Ambrosia) cranks

    another rivet-picker question....

I've established that AMBROSIA on our cranks means they were made by Ambrose Shardlow & Co, Sheffield but there are also numbers stamped on the crank which I'm thinking may be a date code or sequential numbering

Mind has D 85 on it and saw one on Ebay with F 1797

.'. I thought letter could be production-year and number following it sequential.

    So A could be 1963, B - 1964, C 1965, D 1966 etc

My crank (if original) would be prior to Jan 1967 so it might fit.

Working...
