Chain Support Bracket.
Whilst building the engines for my hillclimb car, I got fed up supporting the chain whilst removing the head and in storage with the head off. Early engines had a little hollow block inside the timing cover, to fit a bent steel bracket, that the chain could be hooked over. This gradually got deleted of the years, I was playing with 3 engines, one had the block with the slot in, one had just the block with no slot & one had no block at all.
I have come with the bracket which can be 3d printed. It can be fitted before removing the head, and holds the chain whilst the head is removed. It also allows the engine to be turned over when the head is off safely, so you can check its all free, and also when checking piston heights etc. There is a little notch at the top where a tie wrap can be used to stop the chain falling off.
This is my 6th iteration of the design, and I just used it today to remove the head off the engine in my Clan (outer head gasket leak), and worked perfectly.
If anybody is interested in making one I am happy to supply the .STL file for you to make your own or if you can't make one I'm happy to supply one for £5 plus postage.
Cheers
