And of course a really important piece of the puzzle in a Singer Chamois

        The walnut trim !

This was a task and a half but highly rewarding ! I am honestly happy I tried it (advice well received Uncle Henry

Must be 8 coats of 2K Acrylic lacquer on there, amazing how quicly it soaks it up and how pitted woord grain actually is compared to metal, if it was metal it would have been a skim of Dolphin Glaze of Easy gold wipe and paint !!!

Even baked at 30 deg for 4 hours per coat afetr it flashd off the clear coat took ages to build up till it was truly flat.

Different gasket sets, go for NEW ones as the NOS ones, especially on the sump can suffer from shrinkage, complete bummer....

Suprisingly there is quite a few parts ibvolved for such a simple engine, they are however quite robust when assembled and maintained properly (good oil especially)

And the before and after on the transaxle, cant take credit for this, all the work was done by Dave Weedon

New bearings and seals all round, new synchros and selectors and all setbackup as per factory

This was some of the GOOD BITS !!!!!

So back on the tin bashing,

Rear engine cover rain channel, another rot spot, single skin on parcel shelf and TRIPLE skin joint where it meets the rear hatch area.

Imps are bad enough with seam rot on 2 faces, threee is just tempting fate !

So out it be cut and new channels all round. I know Colimp66 remebers the pain of this one very well and if you look at CA Restorations images col rooney
shows how the professionals handle replace the whole rear section !
