    • Rear drums are now silver to match the Hayashi fronts , i used engine paint rated to 180˚C , If it cooks that off im probably dead in a ditch so should be fine

          • Random bodge job / mod for today .
Used an old bicycle brake adjuster for a choke cable stop . Easy to adjust the cable now.
            Throttle already has one

Set up correctly they need full choke start then 47.2% as soon as the thunder starts , 1/2 mile later she needs none , if its starts sans choke shes richer than Bill Gates

                • Just a thing ive discovered .
Noticed yonks ago the oil pressure on the Singer when hot was not as it once was and seemed to be around 45 PSI . On top of that stone cold it only reached 50PSI on start up .
I discounted the main bearings and pump as hot tickover is 30PSI so well gooder and up with the best ive seen.
Anyhoo having changed on the oil yesterday and getting the same result I fitted another pressure relieve valve - just another factory spec standard one I found lying about in the drawer of never ending random tat .
Result this morning was 57PSI on stone cold start up so a rise of 7PSI but still under the 60PSI max.
Not got it hot hot as yet but it seems promising .
Conclusion is the spring in the old relive valve was getting weak.
                  Result I recon

                  • I actualy had that before, but with a screw on cartridge filter, went through loads of filters same as volvo one thinking it was the filters. No use, always seem to be about 10 psi too low.

Embarassingly enough even changed the engine ! but at least it ruled it out

Changed to a element type and instantly much better.

Thinking back how long these things lay around, likely it was the valve itself despite being US washed

Still shows where folks using them high revs for long durations might make use of the adjustable mod.

                    • Not done much to this thing lately however I have changed the mounts on my " hide all the guts plates " from spire nuts and self tappers to riv nuts and stainless bolts .
Gave it all an extra coat of paint at the same time :)

100% MK 1 just as rootes intended it, no mods, no problem
