Ive been mulling on the foam grey paint under the dash on the front bulkhead .
To me its always jumped out a bit and made the dash more cluttered than it already is.
Any way finally its gone black using self adhesive 3mm closed cell neoprene foam .
Might even quieten it down by 1/2 a DB .
Copes with - 40หšc up to + 85หšC so should be fine by the heater โ€ฆ
Paint underneath is undamaged so if i need to remove it it will be fine

Nice job Dave, the foam looks the part.

Plan on DDG is to use the carpet I bought with the carpet set to fill in those bits as I generously applied the epoxy when the shell was bare all over there and used it to seal the edges as well,

You dont notice it as much with the dark colour but I know its there and is on the naughty list.

As usual you beat me too it !

                Very nicely done Dave.
Very similar to what I have done on my Imp with carpet right up the back of the dash to hide the painted steel of the bulkhead. A Mk 3 from 1970 though as to your Mk1.

Makes it look so much more finished and easier on the eye I think.

                Cheers
                Col.

Possibly the most boring photo today but anyway the stainless bonnet catch mount is fitted and works perfectly
Goes well with the stainless bonnet stay and the one on the slam panel

You never take a day off

Nice work as always, I take it the actual screw and cup are still standard ?

                        Imp heaters .
Been a post on these on facebook lately so thought id do a few tests .
Engine = semi warm and basically just on tickover with no trip out although I did drive up and down the garages a few times .
Bypass shut with no heater valve fitted .
Heres the results - heater seems really good and is roughly half the temperature of the main radiator . I recon half rad temp is a good ball park figure for a decent heater set up

                          Interesting, cheers Dave.

As you know I am struggling to even get the chammy engine warm on idle, even at 2k rpm

heater wise its no more than warm. Reckon I will be pinching off the aux rad until it is driving (or fitting shut off valves like yours to do it with turn of a screwdriver)

Car Builder Solutions do 12v solenoid operated shut off valves. Easy fit, easy wire with a simple switch on, in or under the dash. Online catalogue or you can ask for a free paper one (yes, PAPER one) through the mail. Part number #HVSOL.

I actually thought about that for the heater Andy as I rarely ever "adjust" the heat, imp heaters have always been more or less on or off I find, temperature control is just wishful thinking

Sort of decided now I likely wont refit the heater control in the chammy

Until I get the car out on the road and rag on it a bit I dont think I will really get a proper idea if the aux rad is worth it or not.

When I was trying it out a few months back in decent weather thats as hot as it would get on rad top .

As the plumbing was done in 19mm, should be a fair amount of extra fluid in there anyway to be heated up, the rad is new and the pump refurbished, engine fresh rebuild so no crap round inside and nice smooth surfaces. It will degrade I am sure

Valve wise I have a break in the line across the front panel I could add a valve, manual or electric
