Today I ended up back in the bonnet area -

The aux rad solution i picked presented a few challanges as regards entry/exit of the hoses as i mis-calculated the spare wheel clearance (well i need to own up to screwing it up really )



So a couple of 90 deg bends and some trim back on the rad end, sorted and done.



Nice clearance now


Then onto the heater air exit, time to fit the stainless grille to stop anything falling in there.





And the last one fitted, down onto chassis rail




So thats the rad solution sorted.


The AUX rad is a heater matrix from an Audi A3 and fits perfect with a slot between the left hand side of heater box and the middle divider on early cars.


And while I was in there and now that area is sorted, its was time to fit the fuel filler neck and return, the breather will go in tomorrow




last piece of the puzzle would be the heater connections, ONE BEND SHORT and 3 hose clips



So again need to wait.

That safe place for all the stuff I cant find must be a gold mine

A week later ! (1st class post not what it used to be !)

The final piece arrives, so thats the heater in.



And the brass tap t finish off

And a change of plan on switches, re-drilled the chammy middle section and abandoned the added switch panel, going to do something else there instead, dont know what yet as it has to be able to come apart again.

One of those days today where you have too much to do, nowhere to start and end up doing something so you can say i actually did something

So I completed the switch line up with a few changes, wired up the controls for

Heater Fan (no indicator, reckon noise is enough)
Spotlights (enable to come on with main beam, with indicator when enabled and on)
Heated Windscreen Select (Front or Rear with indicator)
Heated Windscreen On (momentery switch, timer relay so stays on for 10 minutes only and switches off itself, with indicator)
Rear Fog Lamp (enable lamp with indicator)

To finish it off as I need to remove it at some point to refit the refinished wood panels so I added a multi plu, matching socket already on the car so I can pull the lot out in one go.



Gauges will be wired in same way on a second plug, reckon 2 x 6 way will do it and one set will have a pin blocked off so they cannot be mixed up, they will be labelled but just in case

Just making final decision on gauges, 2 plus badge or 3 gauges, I have a reasonable badge but nothing really nice so decisions

The Oil Pressure gauge is a smiths electric one so no pesky tubing.

I ned to finish assembling and calibrating the smiths volt meter/battery condition gauge and that can go in, think Battery plus Oil pressure + badge

I can always remove the badge and fit something else later, limitd choices though as wiring will be done.

Cannot remember the make or model of the car where they had a 2" gauge which was just warning lamps, divided up like a sliced pie. That would be cool.

Cheers Keith, once the binnacle and oil cooler are in its "starting time" really looking forward to that.

Gets worse when you see the plug / pin-out and wiring drawings

If you fancy doing the singer you are welcome to the drawings, front to back is literally good quality trailer cable, 2 x 8.5mm for the two supplies and two 6mm for the front/heated screen.

If you are not going with heated screens you can drop quite a few bits.

Its also already done for electric fuel pump and cutout as well as stable higher current supply at back all ready for EFI (one day)

Centre "console" controls are now built up tested and have final wrap, I modded a few things while doing the drawing so it made more sense.

A basic "how to rewire the imp" article was on the to-do list anyway, i am just short of an imp or two to do the pictures.

Instruction and wiring drawings are easy

All in, connected up, harness tied down and tested, lift off middle panel, pull connectors, all is free

No voltage drops that I can see.

Heated screen works as planned,

Flick once ON, flick again OFF and so on, just like a modern, ifleft on max 11 minutes and goes off on its own.

Quite pleased with how tidy it came out.

Hope 9 way plugs arrive tomorrow so I can get the binnacle in (finally ) much happier now with this solution
