And back to finding all the pieces of the dash.
The missing captive clip i will need to deal with later
Everything found except the end panel, glove box and middle console seem different colours, need to do these again.
At least i did not lose the chamois glove box latch, had to make one for green car
So seats out for now and the car cleaned out of all th junk
And all the dash bits fitted

And finally decision time !
I have a 80mm rev counter to fit courtesy of Mr Jim McGurk
I had thought of mounting it lower right of binnacle as thats where the car had the original smioths one.
But fancy the idea of dash top and as the chamois crash pad out the car is mint it would be almost criminal to drill into it.
One possibility is I could use the NOS Imp Super spare crash pad I had and make some mount brakcet that would pop out the ash tray aperture.
No damage to cras pad and dash top mount

Its the mylar chrome affect strip fitted in the windcreeen seal, comes coiled up like a spring and it makes it an utter complete pain in the wotsits to fit, if its left in heat and straightened out it makes fitting it in a lot better as you dont need to fight the bends in it
I do the same with the windscreen and side window seals, leave them out in heat to unravel, then around glass so they are in shape before even ytry to fit/ John

And a dash mountec choke cable.
Cable is a remote reserve fuel / choke cable for a 52-61 Bettle / Bus
Position I was thinking of installing it above
And plenty wiggle room in the engine bay and a nice soft loop for the choke on the 28/36
This mod is because the car was never fitted with a choke on the floor (too early) and instead had the after market mod where it was converted from auto-choke and had a cable fitted under the rear seats in the middle.

A few more pieces to the puzzle as the point is coming close to starting at least some of the interior while waiting on the carpets to arrive.
A set of Imp Super style door cards courtesy of Lesley & Phil Smith
Philgsmith
The original Imp Super cards seemed to be more like moulded plastic or heat embossed plastic and very cheap looking, these are stitched in embossed panels and the look of it is very plush indeed, way better than the rootes version
Along with matching rear side panel coverings and rear wheel arch covers. All fantastic work, Dave Lane has some of the same replacement covers as well.
Then another task.
I made the " frank'n'wheel " from an old Triump 2000 steering wheel outer, trimmed the spokes and used an universal imp boss with new mountings.
I still have to over mould the centre section to hide the fixings.
But time to add a cover to freshen up the look of the outer, nice material but cant get one to fit such a thin outer wheel.
Will see how that turns out as the interior goes together, reckon my fingers will be like pin cushions on the steering wheel bit though !Last edited by John A. Ross; 21 May 2020, 06:50 PM./ John

back to wiring
Does not look much but the wires are all now labelled up and they do what they say they do and all seems to work.
Hopefully once I figure out the mod for ash tray replacement with a small switch panel and a few other bits I can nail getting the binnacle in.
Was so so tempted to just crank it up but without the oil cooler installed it would be a bit messy ! like Jims Mini was

Be good to get Pet lo that stage. Not sure how it'll look once it's done , won't be to original spec though , pretty sure about that.
No detailed plans for it at the moment
I've already got Lesleys door card covers etc , they do look good , plus new cards from Bob

Bob
The switch positions are still work in progress as are the gauges will need to have a seat and see what I think.
I am fairly confident now I will end up modifying the ash tray mount to fit a switch panel rather than the ash tray (can find ashtray ! )
At least Imp wiring is fairly simple,
From that bundle if you remove all the extras I wired in (except electric washer)
Heated rear screen
Heated front screen
Fog ligh
Electric oil pressure sender
Fuel low level warning
Rev counter
Electric bonnet release
Spot lights
Thats 8 of those wires dissapear,
Still 3 to add from the steering column pawl unit but those are local.
Adding the extras in I more than doubled what was in the car originally control wise, I just did not want to ever have to lift a carpet to add something in once its down
