And to get car back on wheels 4 jobs left- Re-bleed the brakes and adjust up
- Adjust hand brake as its a bit high
- Fit reverse light microswitch in the tunnel (needs bracket fabricated)
- Fit unde tray (ready to fit).
- Fit flexi gear change coupling
Numbr 5 was a hard stop as i did not have any, only a box of junk ones, or so I thought.
3 were seemingly OK, wish I had got a picture of the one which looked wrapped in some cloth tape and alien gunge.....
So now I have the final piece AND I found the high tensile bolt to go with it !
Cleaned out, little bit of love, some grease, PU adhesive and some heat shrink sleeve layers. Deed done !

And now the stripes are on, soon as it gets cold have to shut the door and get heater on so cant get at back of car.
Gear change shaft is in. Lever feels good and tight.
No way I can get to fit the reverse lamp switch just now, need to lose the weight i put on as I cant shimmy under the damn car and as the axle stands are small ones i dont want to raise it to far.
Now if only someone would volunteer to polish up the trim PMCG
Shame no templates for the drill holes

So something else to plan ahead for
Refitting glass into doors.
Threw out boxes of stuff and this was what was left.
Originals, likely end up these go back in after refurb.
Then sort this lot out, thanks to Dave Lane for the help could not have did it without you.
Still seem to have found enough (except window channel) to make two sets up at least.
On the hunt for some rigid channel otherwise I have to bridge the gap as theese are MK 1
There is always a way, I will find it !/ John

And in betweeen wiating for things like adhesive to cure, answers on emails... took the time to fit the elbow on the fuel tank so the thread sealant has plenty time to set.
Just need to find the magnet off the in tank filter now, I can remeber putting a bit of foam under it and sticking it somewhere safe, still looking......

And then to the resevoir mounting bracket i made out of some perforated aluminium sheet I had.
I fell over after a dizzy turn and it moved the bracket, I was never happy with it however decided to just ignore it for improvement later as it worked fine.
That annoyed me greatly
So on with MK 2 some 4mm solid aluminium plate which I beat into submission
Not fabrication of the century but at least now my fat backside could stand on it and it would not move !
Looks OK as well

And yes that is one of the pair of card corners i refurbed earlier. here is one I prepared..... as a show used to say
Those are both done so only the middle to sort out a solution for
But first to finish up the bonnet area wiring and leave it in the dash area inside.
So thats the fuse box in, I had some other things planned but got some news that royally peeved me off so spent the time wiring away as that tends to calm me down, could not hack it was making a pigs ear of it, would have been peeved off more tomorrow if I had done a bad job.
Time for a brew then bed and tomorrow is another day maybe

Well not much done today, well actually loads just never looks as much but my hand is buggered crimping all the ends.
Anwyay first time i have used this type of cable wrap on a car and it makes a fantastic job and much easier to work with than PVC or cloth tape.
Loosens easy to 4x diameter for feed wires, break in / out as you please (going to add heat shrink at entry pints) and when pulled tight holds the bundles tight like a chinese finger trap
Everything ready to pop in cab now.

Not much done but every little helps
Replacement shiny manifold arrived, some fettling required as at first it, it fits like a bag of bolts, need to tweal the 28/36 casting and manifold.
Even with reduced type nuts and I just noticed the manifold gasket is a poor fit, parts covering the ports so some adjustment needed there as well.
Lot easier to fit with the reduced head nuts though, no way you can get a spanner in

And a sanity check as some of the 1/4 light seals fittings were called into question so I pulled a frame apart (have to do it anyway)
Results were a reasonable fit for little effort but end fit will need tweaking for final install, thought it was somthing stuck to the glass, it is not, its a scratch, need to find better glass now if i can.
Peter Nunney
Peter this is the inside of Franks flocked outer door scraper seals, i think you asked Frank about them.

More tweak alignment and checking
Unfortunately not as good a fit as I remembered
As I posted to Facebook for Connor
First i had to straighten the frame and very careful refitting the glass pivit stem through the new rubber as it again has tendency to fit the frame.
The hole alignment was a mile off, it does indeed look like it has shrunk especially on lower edge, defo not a snug fit.
But it was beaten into submission.
First dont recut the centre hole, it had to be exactly where it is.
This locates the centre, then the return to the latch end, cut that carefully so it stretches the seal and pushes it into the corner, you will find the drain holes now align in that side !
The holes at the front side now also line up, but when locating the hing it pulls the seal up the channel a little bit so it does not fill the croner, it needs stretched down.
When assembly is in the car and ready to have the self tap screw fitted, open the 1/4 light and pull down on the seal, over stretch it into the corner and fit the lower self tap screw, use a new one with sharp point, this bits into the rubber and holds the seal in place.
Not done mine properly yet, only a trial fit but sits in the area well, I will be adding a few adhesive spots around the frame to keep its location but even with the stretches it sits well now,
Not a drop in though
Plus the last few mm of the frame itself when sat back in the door sometimes needs a little tap forward to fully locate as the area at top of door skin can "Pinch" inwards a bit where the outer skin is bound to the inner one.
I also had to cut that same spot you indicated was missing a channel, it wont fit the top corner of the frame without that cut
Same for rear side corner at latch, that needs a cut to stop it curling up that end with glass closed
