No time to take car out, so more polishing and flatting.

Had to give up and order some 3k and 6k discs in the end or I would have had shares in the polishing compound company.

Still, getting there, slow progress. Reckon i will need to fix the steel bonneta nd do it again. Need to order some of this Paramorse paint stripper and see how I get on.. Seemed to work wonders on Rob machins car impman65

And it goes on and on and on and on....

Still not got the roof down to 3000 grit flat, I might get to the 5K grit stage by 2022 at this rate. THEN the rest of the car to do, the bonnet will be a super bitch

Its a long slow process John and something I'm not looking forward to doing on the Pest. Be well worth it in the end and I cant imagine you will be using it much with the salt going down on the roads now?

The Mk 1 causes me issues to take out on the roads, DDG has modern 2K epoxy and primer layer, stone chip and 2K paint, the caviuties all have wax oozing out so is better protected than some modern cars when I think about it.

Salty roads dont worry me but wind makes an imp no fun, same for pissing rain, I reckon imps suffer more from water ingress from top than they do from bottom.

So down to vist mum today , car was looking a bit poorly

Then back to the grind, this tme extending to the bonnet. Bonnet quality is actually very poor, you can really see how badly the gel coat collapsed when painted.

This is bloody aweful work, 3000 grit is a real chore

Was great to have these arrive today, really make short work in the DA but best used wet so rather messy

Outside I do not mind, inside rather messy.

But these discs are awesome. 5 sheets of paper by hand vs one disc in the DA

Out and about again after a small wet sanding session (again)

Getting there, working down from nbase of glass now. Rest done to 6000 grit and it was tough going.



Now of opinion steel bonnet needs to go back on, when its proper shiny and no drizzle/peel effect I reckon the moulding issues will show up worse.




And of course a run out, one side blue skies, other side starting to get snow on hills.

Would have been nice to have a better quality badge but thats all I have.

Need to figure out some kind of filler around the edge to plug the gap.

Just got rid of last scratches as well.

Man this is dementing this polishing lark

Not sure how much more I can cut in, might be time for the experts instead of me, man gotta know his limitations or find out hard way

I am sorry to see that happening, I feel for you bud. What a nightmare., I hope you walked away before kicking or throwing something about the place...
Leave it a bit and come back to it next year. That's what I am doing with the Pest at the moment.
