Well that was a failure, my straight line must have been as bent as a £3 note, finish on the made pieces was great but I am not spending the time to modify as it will take too long.
So took originals and blocked down with 80 grit, then 120, then 480, nice and smooth and back to ply.
And of course now I have to seal it.
Strangely enough the ply that rootes used was already veneered, loosk like re-cycled, before they added the veneer and varnish

So plan A is available. Needs 3rd guage hole oval out a bit to fit back plate OR the metal ovaled out.
Not by much tho.

Hi John, that's a great offer I may take you up on thanks. It's the cardboard bins that I will want to make or replace tho! I'm getting there with the Chamois but am going into hospital for a bit of surgery that's going to take me out of action for a few weeks. Will let you know when I'm up and running again as long overdue a trip to Bannockburn! Cheers Keith

Keith, I have a couple of sheets of coated (not flocked tho) Millboard here which I used to remake the fuel tank cover, its same stuff as the shelf material.
One project I still have to do is re-make the parcel shelf for the MK 1, but I am stronly considering just taking that apart, taking a steam iron to it and leaving it under weight to see how true it comes out as its a lot of work.
I did re-make the ones on the grteen chammy, turned out well.
Hope the op goes OK !
