And something I always wanted to do.

1. put all those wasted seals for the doors to some use "later
2. Finish the edge of the door pockets a bit better
3. Add a gasket to the door pocket to stop those feeking rattles when the self tappers let loose

OK, rivnuts should sort the self tapper issue

So I did these





The door seals are a fantastic fit, much better than they ever were on the door thats for sure !

And door cards now final glue on edges and stapled down at back

Work continues

Rear arch insulation, rear arch overs and side cards check fitted along with rear parcel shelf deadening



All good, was about to cut carpet then finally fit everything stretched and glued down but I an 8cm short ! on carpet

Cue toys thrown out pram, bad words were uttered and the cats ran for cover.

Now I have to order more damn carpet .......... more time and money

Nightmare John, same thing happened to me when doing the drivers footwell. Just a bit short to finish it off.
I know how your feeling..

I am guessing its not the same 4 way stretch carpet I used ? I have quite a bit left, you would be welcome to it..

Colin, no but that carpet you used would have been a better fit, front to back on that image, the longest bit was only a few CM short. Was livid !

Carpet arrived but had to do other things plusn it looks like the battery is kaput thing is cheesing me off and not even done a mile yet.

Anyway, bacl interior has been started so the seat back, which in early cars was self coloured to the car needed attention.

So I stripped off the hairy stuff and the adhesive, got rid of the crusty bits on both sides, primed and got paint on the "seat side" which is least exposed.

Can work on the finish on the back side which is exposed tomorrow and do a little better prep.

Thats the other side done, two coats in no time but paint was literally getting tacky as it left the gun even with reduced acelerator content.

Heat was unbelievable.




Nice maroon effect plastic table at same time, I usually cover that in new clinfilm first to keep crap off but little point this time as so much flying around in the air anyway

Back in the sunlight to bake

As Paul turned up today I took the oppertunity to graba pickture of the car. Those wheels are identical wheels to the ones on DDG but these have the polished highlights where I chose to take that away and just clear coat

Amazing the difference the centres and polished rim makes, suits Pauls car colour perfect, but would not suit mine and vuice versa

Some more bodging, Id di not like where the rev counter was and decided to move it.

Made a small bracket to add to the ash tray bracket as I lost the ash tray and well never need it anyway





And finally in place, nice wasy move as its on a multi plug

And of course what happens now its outside

Big ugly reversing lamp now gone.

Made use of some spare 12V lamps and used some adhseive to keep them in place, tghe adhesive can be cut and done aagin so no big thing to change.

Nice bright lights for less than a fiver and more importantly hidden

Not as cool as Andy Gills but I have a bumper in the way, or Graham Criomptons halo eyes solution which is uber cool.

Rear numnber plate refurbish time, decided the pressed steel one looked too "new"










As the plate will sit a bit higher than normal as it was originally on the home made sport lid I added mesh.

No sport lids were actually available back in the day






And final "look" just waiting on the starlock washers for the numbers to get them final mounted

Starlock washers came so numbers now attached with proper retaining washers and nothing is complete unless yo can over engineer everything

So extra epoxy and mandatory re-enforcement of the old floppy plate as both fixings very close to centre




Checked the "hidden" revere lights as well, really bright compared to the old big boxy thing and now very discrete





Cant be too bad if it almost ocludes the side light red reflection on the white door

Work has been super mad busy but maaged a few hours off today to give the car some love as I could get it outside.

Found my battery drain issue as well, had relay terminals round wrong way so relay was engaging on live instead of switched ignition. Shows not so easy to follow some wiring diagrams even when you did them yourself

But limit was to start the deadening and carpeting of the back storage space and get the heated screen wiring (rrear courtesy light wiring alread in) so I can get all the panels done.



And yes I still have to paint the rear hatch



And finally the back shelf carpet in, I still have to make the finisher strip behind the back seat.


Then what to do with the back of the rear seat, to keep the rubber mat that always hangs off or carpet it.

Decided to carpet it, top edges are double folded to avoid the look of cut edges.



Turned out pretty tidy





I just need to find a good set of back seats now as the bottom one from the car is well past it, getting them re-covered is no problem, just need good seat structures so if anyone has some spare let me know
