Col, Yes still have te mylar strip to fit. Hoping it wont be too bad as I bought a tool for doing these ages ago, not a perfect size for the imp but I made the opener work

Still reckon it toom me nearly 2 hours or more to fit crawling around the edge

WIsh I had fitted one piece like Dave did now Dave Lane

So starting rebuilding some interior next, last of the sound deadening around front arcehs and I can get carpets more or less in.

Still cant get side panels or door cards on though as not finished polishing the stainless side strips yet to refit. These are bolted through in places, not just clips so need access

Bit closer to getting inner panels on, thats the exterior trim selected, or at least best I can. Polishing needed.

Some of the trim gets attached with threaded fixing in case any readers are wondering, this is done at trim ends like the front to stop trim springing off

Small challenge on the heated scren tab, if only it was just a tad longer would be perfect !

Still better than slicing the finger off bare terminals on pillars when hands are freezing

And finally a vist and car get together for 5 mins and the back bumper is now on with new over riders that match.

needed to move the imp so time to fire up, next to no choke and started right off, reckon might be a bit rich something for another day

Hopefully not long now, but not sure the carpet on the roof will ever catch on as a trend

A vinyl roof isn't that great John never mind the carpet although it looks more like a quilt you have on there too

Col, spot on, old cosy thick duvet cover, its even on with duct tape as I just knew the roof would get used for storage

Usally got an old fleece over bonnet as well, that usually ends up an extra workbench.

Sooner its finished the better .

BUT noticed a gap in the windscreen seal on inside, needs invetsigated firt as if its the glass jammed in, first flex on the frame and glass might crack

Had to cave in and go for something to get the nose of DDG dropped.



Even with decamber mod and 1" shorter springs the nose sits a little high due to the high pivot suspension system used on MK 1 cars.

Issue now is the car does indeed have just a tad negative camber and that looks great, but it has it with the nose still higher than the back, not quite a speedboat look but not nice anyway.

Fitting carpet time I thought

Bought nice fitted carpet set, no problems I thought

What a complete and utter ball ache. None of the wheel tub parts fit, had to trim them both.

Started with deadening, no matter how you slice it the original stuff does the deed better ! but hairs all over the place.

You can see my brushed in epoxy under the bonnet area.





Then I had to clean off all the residue of the cavity wax that exploded everywhere whne the breather nozzle blocked on the cavity gun and the bottle blew up and totally covered me as well as the car



Now that would have been a funny picture but I was too cheesed off for a selfie (plus did not want to scare everyone)

But seriously, was smelling the stuff out my pores for a week or more.

Anyways plastered with sticky crap and the hairy stuff attached





And the horrid fit of the carpet





So back section in now.





Other than the carnage from the hairy stuff and having to laugh that is only to stop me crying.

It is a horrid fit, gaps front and back.

Looks like I might be using the carpet length I bought for back parcel shelf to make longer side sections as well as a bit for under the bonnet area.

So much for getting those bits fitted and the seats in !

Good point for today is i got the side gates hinges fixed (iron gate) and as painting that gate cheeses me off more than the carpet used it as a frame and timber cladded it, turned out way better than this carpet !
