Not to be held back and as the garage was not too cold to work in
Started on the remote elctric bonnet lock.
First and second passes were a fail, too many paths of least resistance.
Got it working in the end
The adjust point was too far back so i will need a new bracket plus I will make next bracket out of 90 Deg extrusion to remove flex as the retracting bolt fixing points are now off the main support.
I think I might refit the wirelss control for this as the remnants were from a very cheap central locking kit, the kit failed on Imp doors as the retracting bolts were too weak to open an imp door.
Would be cool though to open the bonnet with car still locked

And then there was more,
After trimming what was an alloy expansion tank to fit where i wanted it (old resevoir position) and adding some insulation as it is against front panel, couple of rivnuts to hold it in place then fit.
Fits in that corner VERY nicely
I will need to cut a new neoprene seal for the neck but other than that add in the washer jet hose 9I seem to have misplaced it all) and that job is done as well.
Another couple off "da list"

This is what happens with self isolation, Folks with too much time and brains working like little power stations coming up with ideas.Patrick McGrorty
100% MK 1 just as rootes intended it, no mods, no problem

Very clever stuff there John. We'll above my skill levels for sure.
Insulating your water bottle is a good idea but you won't be driving in the winter will you after all the work you have put into the build?
Cheers

It will be out all weathers, modern paint not so fragile as the green MK 1 which is poorly
Those actuators were similar to the ones I was talking about using for your gear shift as in tandem it would be paddle left down, paddle right up, can even add a third and a sequencer
Paddle left
Diengage clutch
shift up one,
engage clutch
No biting poimnt as such though, you get the idea

Some more bits done, had an issue on the 3/8 to 7/16 transition where the female gland shoulder was too long for the nice new stainless coupling I bought,
I was going to use the old one but could not bear to do it !
See issue here, the old and the new
So a bit of clicing and dicing
And final install, I chose to take both sets of hydraulics via same hole as i had a large bore fuel line using the normal clutch exit aperture.
An then install of the new master cyliner and braided clutch hose, all buttoned up now and ready to bleed the clutch
And finally the final brake line fitted for the servo, radiator needs fitted first to get the position correct.
I was fitting one of these but as I can get a new servo for less than the cost of a rapair kit I decided to just skip mrefurbishing these.
So tomorrow another day, might get servo fitted tomorrow, I had made holes in the inner wing for the Girling servo but filled them back up, so new rivnuts needed for the new servo.

Slice and dice Dave
Bit more done today, well quite a bit.
Radiator and cowling re-coated, i already did this last year but its been living outside so was quite tatty.
Fitted servo and finished up lines, just to button up rear unions and then good to bleed. Starter cleaned up and ready to go.
Water pump prepped, pulley coated (cant find my smaller one, thats is annoying.....)

Another day and another bolt,
Had to do a lot of cleaning and painting of bits today
Pump assembly done and mounted
Alternator mounted and lined up
Starter in (need to remeber to tighten bolts ! )
Battery tray added the neoprene lining and sofetr base to keep cold off battery.
Need to go get battery bracket tomorrow and a couple of hose clips.
Overall engine bay filling up very nicely !

OK, managed to get the bottom coolant hoses sorted after getting yet more hose clips (they tell lies on sizes I am sure of it !!)
Then it was on to adding in the oil pressure guages, cant believe it but forget bog rolls, seems a world shortage of blank plugs ! think Bob Petowner bought them all up !
Eventually found one at other house so not up to Bob but plug cleaned up, drilled, tapeed out 1/8 and pressure sender installed.
Shocking how long this actually took. Still too cold outside for much.
Then set about the 28/36 manifold which was pretty grotty, polished the manifold and carb body faces, cleaned the bits folks see (sorry Guest ) and discrded the studs which were past their best.
Attention now on the heater as I experienced on Boris the 10mm pipe fits bugger all so will need to step that up to 15mm to be sensible for hoses, sort of torn between drilling out and fitting 15mm tube or just making 10>15mm steps, either way pain in the butt.
Progress is progress.
Also goiing to try a different approach to bleeding so wont fit the normal "bleed" valve and instead fit a biased Y piece and tidy up the oses in that area as it will get busy very quickly.

OK, so trial fitted the freshly surfaced weber inlet manifold. Fot was fine, dowel holes need a little clean out (OK i forgot) but those proper job exhaust nuts from Robin human made a huge difference, no way a socket was going to fit arround a standard nut.
So, manifold in
First snag my Plan A for the heated manifold return , scuppered as no room, too close to the chassis leg. So need to plan B that.
Second snag, fitted carb just sat on, 19mm coolant hose will foul any kind of air pan I could use, need to have a think on that one as that hose does not like bending easy (plus i already have it on the engine flange)
Third snag !! is I cannot see the quadrant working well at all so need to figure out a planB or cut away the existing cable entry or cut away some of it to make better use.
