Still not sure about that John, the Imp is still having a few wee teething issues that I would like to sort out first before a long run like that over to Ayrshire. I will be looking at it tonight and the rest of the week to see if I can sort them out properly.
I will let you know at the end of the week.
Cheers

Well the car has been going great, not to long now till I can pull engine out for a tear down and new wills rings. Apparantly bad batch of rings doing the rounds when mine was built so new set of gaskets from Ben Boult at Corley Conversions, top man ben
Biggest bummer was failure of the smiths stabailiser for the fuel and temp all around the nearly 80k miles , went from zero to end stop back to zero and fail
So binnacle unplugged and stabaliser removed
MartinSullivan not the ground on the metal tab of the indicator stalk, this is needed or the hold on coil will not work, the tab is the coils ground return, check this as well as the pal unit
And as I could not find the box of stabilsers I ended up having to make one of the devils own solid state versions and jam it in the tin can.
Now all working but its annoying the crap out me, new smiths one going in as soon as I find them

And now for something different, met a nice fellow Alan Scott at Bridge Of Allan show and let hime have some of the MK3 imp spares I had (and donated from others) as I have no MK 3 car and Paul has now let his go.
AS a thanks he left me this to modify for my 40s experiments and EFI fiddling
Can chop this up as needed, get it fitting and send it to Mr parry then to have one made as i would like it, sorted
Its actually in not bad condition however I really just want the flanges to mess with

And a NOS to be put in after some tweaks on springs and weights, I have a 45D in the car at present and its in great condition but it is getting this 25D as this is what it would have had.
Although no play on the 45D it does have a little wobble on the dial guage but the 25D is near perfect so the better pick

Well plans on hold for modding
Decided to pull the engine and box and as all the spares are knacked, car will be off road unless I can buy an engine for cheapness.
What started off as a bit of pufff of coolant (engine never lost a drop of oil) ended up like this
So plan is now to
Pull engine and box
I will have a good look at my "expert professionally" rebuilt gearbox and see if i can fix the oil leaks, end casing for gear change shaft will need to come off and see what the O rings are like as the leak at the moment would suggest there isn't any !
Then onto the engine, preferred route would be to return it to the builder as that knock is not healthy but I will at least drop the oil and see what is on the sump plug. I have seen the oil pressure drop time to time but the terminal on the electrical sender was loose, when i recored that video it would not go above 25 PSI which is very far away from the 50-55 it normally sits at when revved.
Head has to come off anyway to check the liner heights (in case one dropped) and pull the rings to confirm that they are indeed the "bad batch" circulating at the time. Thats 50/50 as the other rings would have failed as well.
Then off with the sunp for a look see.
It will likely need something, any machnining involved will be a case of booking a date with Andy and just get him to check/rebuild and run on dyno
Complete feeking bummer, first engine almost ever with no oil on the deck !
I have a gearbix or two unkwon, so if I can pick up an engine to use in between I might drop that in to see that it is OK as thats about the only way to test them

Sorry to hear this John, Is a bit of ticking going on in your video from what I can hear.
What a pain in the a**e that is for you after it going so well and getting out and about recently.
Has turbo Paul not got an engine kicking about that you could use in the mean time or has he went all Blue Oval now with his new toy?
Good luck and hope you get it sorted asap.
Cheers
