And on the tpic of working with wood

Brian eventually got my cut/planed varnished walnut panels back to me, so a bit blocking of the edges and a few coats of 2K varnish and should be much better than they were.

As the veneer is already varnished that saves loads of crap as when I did the last ones out of stained oak the timber simply soaked up all the varnish and the putting was just terrible to block back out with fine grit.

Here is hoping this works out better

Will see how these fit, should be Ok now as they wanted hole positions confirmed as folks ahd complained standard bumper irons do not fit.

Bad news for today though is poor Dan at Evans is pulling his hair out as he is getting screens he does not need and broken promises on dates for stuff he does need.

So windscreen delivery date is back in limbo

Well no new over riders as yet but some goodies arrived today

Hopefully get a break from the other bits and bobs and get some car time over weekend and get the new headlining fitted and then this

Side windows have already been fitted, i fitted them ages ago to let the rubbers take shape and removed.

To be honest bolt seats down and it can be on the road and although the car never had seat belts fitted I reckon I should fit some. Job for another day

Now I am waiting for paint to dry (literally ) decided to make headway on the front bumper support for the spots which I was also going to make same style as the US bumpers.

Plan was to use the US style bottom arms as supports and keep them body coloured (or satin black)

Did not have stainless so galv metal conduit was the upcycle material of choice

Only sliced and ciced them so far, my plan was to bend to shape but reckon I will need to borrow a pipe bender for this one, the stuff is a tad tougher than I remebered.

Going to have one horizontal bar, then the uprights coming up behind the over-riders and the mount for the spots located there (same as was on Boris)

These are the Stainless ones from Harringtons in Vietnam. The pictures dont do the finish justice .

From the usual re-chrome fellas to do it 3 stage properly was working out at £1,500

So at £400 or so for the stainless ones, it was a no-brainer decision you would honestly struggle to tell the difference.

I did have issue on two over-riders though, they are replacing them. Should be here this week.

And more progress.

Both side windows now in and massaged into position for the last time hopefully, will leave it a bit then seal it up.

Must say pre fitting the seals I was not sure it would help, but first fitting them even although they were not squared away as I would like was worth it. Helped shape them from the packing bag very well.

Fitted second time they dropped in and every corner of the seal fitted perfectly.








And then it is onto the new windscreen. Glass is slightly thicker so not sure how this will go. Franks seals are tight as hell and does not have moulded corners,

I did the same for the windscreen seal, not as much of a success though, I think this is going to be a pain in the butt

However, left in the heat, wrapped around the windscreen now to take shape, not happy on the corners though.

We already fitted these to Mildred the MK 1 and although a complete pig to fit, did not leak even without sealer but corners not nice

We will see.

Windscreen now it.

What an utter and complete pain in the arse it was as well.

Glass a little thicker and Franks seal is tight as a ducks backside as it is.

As for the attachemnt of the wires, Dan at Evans called and explained the factory had screwed up and rather than the usual terminals sticking out from the glass, this had two "flat" cables attached instead.

Just so happens it sits very very well in the chammy dash (or super) as the big ugly connections can be hidden behind the binnacle pads.

Two black strips like that either side, thats it



Also

• Courtesy light switches in and wired. Last parts before putting in sound deadening and front/sill carpet sections
• Door seals sorted and cut to length as the headlining is in.
• Passenger door seals adjusted, still to do drivers side and check again once glass is in doors.

Looking good John, do you still have to put the chrome infill to the screen rubber?

I found that an awkward thing to fit more so than the screen but I was using the standard screen I picked up from you ages ago.

I'm now working on the one piece rear screen, hopefully fitting that this week.
