Well the wheels came back today and I managed to get the tyres fitted.

So onto the car and out into the sun for a bit

Decided to have them blasted just clean and coated, will see how that lasts, ally always looks nice when clean.








Hopefully see the windscreen in next week or so, better pull finger out and set the headlining

Wheels on and outside, time for front number plate as we get closer to being on the road

Decided to strip and refurbish the original one for the front, it just looks so right compared to pressed black/white alternative.










So much better now just need to get those clips for back to hold letters on as they were all roosty

And then the hazard switch which although period would not let me mount the tacho where it used to be originally




So after seeing Dave Lane one in the Singer I decided that was better, so eventually found one and now fitted



Had to wrap it though as the outer terminals are all exposed and no heat shrink that size but can always fit later



And as normal its on a multi plug

As I managed to pick up a smiths NOS tacho at a reasonable price I was still short of a mounting pod, so the broken £15 digital one had to be sacraficed.

Ran out of time to mount it this evening and will get on with that tomorrow






In addition I will get the auxilliary temp gauge wired up as I fitted two senders to the head when the engine was out, one for the binnacle imp gauge and one for an actual temp gauge in middle of dash.

The NOS smiths tacho has an issue though in that it wont count for the first 10 secs then it is as steady as a rock, these devices have some "wet" parts internally that dry out over time. Here is hoping a few charge/discharge cyles will condition it back to life.

Inbetween bigger jobs of course the boring stuff like cleaning parts



Some degreaser/cleaning treatment, wash with some WD40, clean and see how it is.

The back parcel shelf is a quandry for me, I am actually thinking some thick underlay and carpet rather than the usual black rubber mat as the standard look will still be on the seat back

And here we go again.

Headlining, the previous one was a bit tight, so tight I reckon it would have torn when I added the interior light and sun visors.

So new headlining from Lesley with some extra material at the front.

Why, well this shell seems to be a Mk1 to mk 2 transition and the bar second from the back is fixed at the driver side, no option to move so leaves the material short at front and long at back

And also got Pat to treat the vinyl with some voodoo as it was well faded but unusually for chammy these days, completely unmarked in any way

And thats another 20 minutes running till up to temp.

So now it has been a few weeks, each day run it up to temp once, check oil pressure, temp, check fluid next day, all good.

In fact ever since I coated the edges of the back bearing caps with URKI70 not a drop of oil on garage floor now.

Never thought I would see that on an IMP they always like a wee - wee to mark their turf.

C4 but not the stuff that goes bang, it is amazing stuff on black plastic bumper trims etc. Back to as good as new and lasts ages.

While waiting on windows doing updates (seems we are always waiting for software updates for something or other these days)



Back to trying to nail down the idle issue on the Weber, runs great 2k rpm plus, actually runs good as well below 2K but only for 30 secs then craps out

You can actually get it to point at about 1500 when it will run great, try and crap out, hunt a bit and back to normal.

As if it gobbling fuel faster than it can replenish it or its getting too much fuel.

Will pull plugs tomorrow and get a look see at colour, was getting too damn cold tonight.

I am in fear of the throttle spindles as it is a "send off to get done Job" Dave so a bit in denial, but actually I think it could be .....

They are prone to it , you used to be able to get over size spindles - needs line boring by a pro as you say
