Today working on the 356 was a bust, crappy pertronix ignition looks like it has had a brain fart and died so standard dizzy and goodies on order to replace
But good things arrived, nuts for wiper boxes arrived so will get wipers sorted tomorrow !! maybe even heater matrix in
Extra long manifold studs for the reduced head lock nuts arrived. Wont be buying from that seller again. Crap quality, looks hand made and I had to chase the threads myself before using
Anyway, cleaned prepped and fitted

Bob, material did not mark much when I clamped them, but I had two out the 10 I simply could not use and thats too high a failure rate for aything other than hand made.
One of the UNC threads did not have "ridges" and thse were flat
The other appears to be bent as it had a wobble (did not think that possible) so 20% failure rate, the apprentice who did that would get oil in his sarnies or worse for that back in day
We know a place locally that will do some, just need to wait until they are open again./ John

Mischief aside today fellas getting on great with work on house and so I decided to work a bit more on the rear hatch.
With seals I had bought the rear hatch stuck out 10+ mm and needed 5mm spacers at the hinge when finally got square, started like this but oh boy was it a pain
So i pulled the inner seal and with the hatch seal only fitted the hatch comfortably drops in the aperture and no spacers needed and most importantly completely flush.
Original style which is more or less correct shape
Experiment time
I had to use a reduced D seal ( Woolies Trim Code 113 ) on the doors as I could not find one that fitted from all the usual suppliers, all to fat and I had to slam the door, I knew it would just wear out the star wheel or keeper eventually and seals are cheaper than those !
The 113 was recommended by Peter Nunney who already did all the legwork, I take no credit and hey prestor doors close well and no issues.
The left over metre or so let me try it on top of rear winodw aperture and at bottom, almost perfect but slight gap and any more crush would have been bad.
I had another seal, absolutely no idea where it came from but slightly wider than the 113 and same height (too tall it hits the hatch edge).
Now sits almost flush and the look is MUCH better IMO, tried the strip I had top and bottom and both seal very well.
Only time and a garden hose will tell but looking promising !!!
The picture above is with the 113 at bottom and the other D seal at top so I am hoping the same style seal all way round will make it all good.
Updates will follow and recomendations in the Wokshop sections when done.

Thats the contorsionist acrobatics done.
New NOS wheel boxes in to replace the other ones I got from bob as they simply dont match the tubes and cutting them makes the middle one especially move around and wobble.
Its done now, motor tested and runs great and NO WOBBLE and will get heater box in tomorrow/ John

Getting close to assemble dash now and getting gauges in means dash panels needed or put all the gauges on connectors that I can remove (now that i am thinking i might do that ! )
Once cut I still need to add a good few coats of lacquer and polish up but thats the easy bit. Reshape these is hard, so off to the expert they go
The material is high gloss polished walnut flooring just a bit lighter than it was, so a nice sealed surface to start laying more coats onto already.
Last time i did this the lacquer stage took ages as the material was not pre-coated (solid wood)
Hoping it will turn out even better this time
