Well the exhaust manifold was offered up to the head along with the 28/36 manifold and it fits like a bag of odd bolts.

Terrible.

So tomorrows job will be die grinder, cutter and big hammer. OK, maybe not the hammer but thats my favourite tool

Not doing it upside down so spare 107 head bolted to edge of bench



Need to fit some kind of centre dowel to line up or at least check the ports exit to centre of primaries and then find a decent insert to take away the amount of play in the main fixing holes which is massive compared to the stud.

Not what I would expect from something that has beeen CNC cut.

Just alien to me Dan how something can be so far out if CNC cut. All of the usual processes are sub mm accurate.

I remember us having a problem with another one of these that did not fit.

Can I ask a silly question, why don't they fit and why not make them so they do fit?

Perhaps no one complains so they just keep being made "incorrectly".
Would seem like a very simple fix to have these corrected.

I am sure a lot of people buy stuff and just hoard it Pat, shiny bits for the closet. Might not be a lot of complaints but how much of that is down to folks just hammering it in or modding to fit and having a small whinge and the complaints discarded as being outside the norm and how many folks have not actually tried to fit it yet.

Would astound me if the 1/4 light seals are fitted on delivery, even i look at that job and leave it until it can be ignored no more...

Have sent it to Andy for the new engine, he is going to go over it for me. Will be interested to see what he think of it. I couldn't get it to fit well, don’t think the exhaust ports lined up and as a result was leaking on cylinder 4. If he doesn’t like it might try a maniflow one, but they are pricey and not stainless!

Exchaust now in, lot of work, lot ! and still had to hit it with a hammer, rule nr 1 in alloy head, dont stress the studs, ....

Some fuel work this evening, routing from the 8mm hardline under the car into the pump and back to the filter/tank



And of course install of the tank filter Petowner

another one in a car





and a extra paper one just in case .... not sure happy with not seeing state of inside so need to find the other filters lying around, should have some clear ones.

Dan, no its not raptor,

Underlying its a couple good layers of 2K epoxy all over and in some areas brushed into the seams.

Then a coat of etch primer then a coat of Gravitex in the areas where it will get a bit of impact damage so if the paint gets chipped no metal is exposed. So far I have indeed dropped tools and things and chipped the bonnet area paint. The paint chipped but no metal exposed, just the stone chip. So a touch up and all good. The texture hides the touch ups.

The car will get used regularly so thought it was a good idea and by luck it seems to have worked.
