Cheers Mike
The mineral vs synthetic and adatives is a debate that goes on forever. In fact many arguments I see are mineral vs mineral or synthetic vs synthetic
The transaxles we had overhauled and all the bushes/bearings replaced the word was mineral only as synthetics can contain harmful additives so that is what has been stuck with.
I take it you run a synthetic oil in the comp trasnaxle builds ?/ John

Doesn't float my boat, half the fun is wondering how hot the engine is or when the battery will go flat. :)
Still would like a tablet screen that is easily removed when at shows, only to be used when mobile then hidden away.Patrick McGrorty
100% MK 1 just as rootes intended it, no mods, no problem

Might change the voltmeter to a rev-counter.
Can you get cover plates for the original temp gauge location?

I had another thought
Remove the existing gauge, its easy to do just watch the screw for the voltage regulator as it tends to go ping and if you hang it off the VREG bracket it can even fall back in the hole
Cut off the needle, the face detaches with a couple of fine machine screws if I recall, block it out and give it a coat of matt black
Deed done.

Raptor top coat if you feel like it but this stuff is hard as nails as well when cured, spilled petrol, brake fluid even thinners on it when cured, wipe it off.
Machine room paint like this makes great top coat, again resists most anything
