Hi all, sorry Ive been missing in action. Quick update on the car.
Engine has been in and out a couple of times since my last post. We won't talk about the washer that got into the engine and damage a piston.
I have been slowly working through the problems I had with stalling when coming to a stop. The problem got increasing worse until the car completely died and would not restart.
Turns out it was a dodgy rotor arm, so after months of fiddling around with float heights, etc a change of rotor and cap solved the problem.

Since then I have been running the car on a 22mm solex sorted and bench tuned by Andy Jones that's putting out basically the same BHP and Torque as the webber 28/36 but is much smoother and nicer to drive. Ive done 500 miles with this set up in the last month or so and loving it.
moose549 supplied me with a roller release bearing which I fitted last week along with a roller spigot bush. Which works brilliantly now no more elephant noises when pulling away and gear changes feel better.
We are hopeful that trip to the south of france in Bru will be possible in September.
