1970 Deluxe aka The Pest a very long process

Fitted the new diff and all the other bits for the drive train that I removed from the engine cradle to allow the reverse gear to be trial fitted before painting and so I can see what I need to fit the starter motor to allow me to reverse.
All a bit tight for space but it is in and now waiting on various nuts/bolts spacers for me to finalise it all this weekend hopefully.


Once I have it all working as it should it will be time for a splash of paint and fit it all back in the car. Easy really

Cheers John, all a bit of a hit an miss with a hope and a prayer for it all going together really when I first put it together, It may change at some point but for the moment a few more bits welded in to support the starter and add a bit more strength and once it is going......again!! Will see how it all goes..

I am eager to have it running once again for sure but I'm not running it in this weather even though, like yours it is all sealed and waxoyled up in all the crevices etc. Would take to much time to clean it afterwards. The furthest it might get is a run down the farm road if the tractors haven't been out making a mess.

Col, mine will be out. I just give it a hose down in dirt collecting corners when back, deed done.

I have seen the underbelly of some moderns with big brand names, the imp will last another 50 years, if the moderns last another 10 without something rusting off I will be surprised

Little bits done on the Pest regarding the electric reverse as it ended up ordering a different starter from the one I had initially for it as it didn't turn the correct way to give me a reverse with the space I have. .
Anyway, I have it mounted now and it has been tested and it turns the diff so I have a reverse. . Still to fully weld in the steel but it's halfway done. It all needs stripped to get it fully done.

Should be strong enough with the same diameter tubing I have used for the rest of the framework and it can be removed easily enough.
FInish the welding , some paint and wire it all up then refit it all back in the Pest in time for when the sunshine comes out again.

Been a busy few days with a bit of frustration thrown in but finally got everything back together on the engine and frame and now have it all back in The Pest. Great having an extra pair of hands to help from my son to get it back in although I still need to put in the coolant, oil and hook up the fuel lines along with a few other bits.

Whilst I was waiting on parts I fitted the headlamo seals I had received from Roger Gill, removed the seats and revised the brackets to the floor to give more leg room and put in a cool air hose to other heater. Also had the stub axles out for a camber modification to help remove the huge amount of negative camber it had.. It still has abit but nothing like it was so happier with that little lot.

Carbs and the airbox along with the exhaust still to be fitted. The exhaust will be something that will be fitted even though it will be getting modified at some point to increase the ground clearance but that may be later this year.
