I'm going to double check them John as I know it should be a simple thing to do but they haven't worked so far. They are out of the bike and been lying around for donks.
be doing that tomorrow evening i hope.
Cheers

The fans work brilliantly pulling plenty off air through the radiator when I tested them last night. .
Now I have to either get them working with the temp sensor or simply fit a switch so I can manually flick them on when required.
As John says Colin, check the switch out, you can use a multimeter and some boiling water and a thermometer to see how it works.
If it simply closes at a temperature easy enough to wire this in to turn the fan on.

100% MK 1 just as rootes intended it, no mods, no problem
Well, its been a wee while since I last updated anything to do with the Pest... Simply due to me being busy rebuilding an MX-5 for my sons 18th birthday which is now ready for an MOT, the car not my son.
So the last time I had started and ran the Pest it had developed a ticking noise which when trying to diagnose it there was a clunk and engine stop/stall..
Oh dear!
After this happened I tried turning it over by hand which it did but not a full 360 degrees of rotation... An endescope was bought and shoved down all four plug holes to discover number two cylinder had a valve head sitting on top of the piston..
Not sure yet if it is an inlet or exhaust that has let go but all will be revealed once the engine is removed and head taken off.
Yeh, bit of a pain that I don't need John but that's how it is.. Messing around with old stuff , never easy
If its not dropped the valve stem it certainly has dropped the valve as it shouldn't be sitting on top of the piston like it is. Will take the carbs of and the exhaust which will determine what has really happened before I remove the engine cradle to remove the engine to sort it out.
John,
I will soon see on Sunday when I get the head of seeing as we got the engine out tonight. Baillie helped me out so it didn't take long.
Keith,
Fingers crossed there's not too much damage when I open it up. Baillie is chuffed to bits with the MX5 which I'm happy about too. He did do a lot of work to it aswell which is great.
Hopefully see you either in the Pest or an MX5.
Cheers
Col.

Yeh, fingers crossed with that John.
Good of Roy to offer the parts. Top man.
Whilst it's out I will be modifying it so I can fit an electric reverse gear so it makes life easier if and when I need to reverse without getting out to push, Or more to the point when I don't have a passenger to push for me
