That's me telling the very long story of me building, restoration of The Pest.. Modifying as I go.. Part of the teson it has taken do long.
Glad that folk find an interest.
A turbo Imp engine would be ideal really as a screaming Imp engine sounds brilliant. Does Paul need a test bed for it does he?? Lol
Dont think I could be bothered with wiping down a blown turbo with oil everywhere if it goes like my waxoyl experience of late lol.
The Pest hasn't been altered enough to not take an Imp engine easily so is possible..... PAUL!!

The clip you sent me soundef sweet as.. Looking forward to seeing that go..

Col, yeah just need to get him out the dark ages or i will end up posting it. I have a huge amount of stuff, some 1,700 posts to go through from another place they used to be, although i will do a summary like your I think rather than post it all.

End of day I have hada a blast getting this up and running, the challange until i can get out and about mobile has saved my sanity a bit being productive.

Onwards I say, onwards only way to go, leave the back in backward

Cant wait to see the pest on wheels !

Will need to round up pat and maybe Paul for a run down soon. Maybe replace a wed meet with a visit to the pest ? We can always pick up Scott / Andrew or keith on way ave a bunch of empty seats as its a bit cold for the imp !

You haven't been sitting on your hands anyway John with getting the forum up and running, well done good job and an alternative that isn't Facebook that doesn't keep a log of any info folk share.

Way to cold for getting the Imps out and it is a good 140'ish mile round trip for you guys to come down to mine. Anytime is cool with me for a visit.

Last night I used up the rest of the sound insulation on the floor area of The Pest. Once again filling in the channels first then one big sheet where possible over the same area.
After I was happy with that I pulled through the new 3/4" pipework for the front mounted radiator through the heater channels.

The doors got a little sheet of the sound deadening too.

More parts fitted this afternoon/evening to The Pest with me starting on fitting new hinges and gaskets to the bonnet. A new front bonnet seal was also done and surprisingly the standard seal fitted without an issue.
After I was happy with the bonnet I looked at what needs to be underneath in the shape of the front mounted radiator.

Then it was the turn for the heater to go back in.
A list of parts required to plumb all that in and refitting the front springs to the suspension was done next.
Some original bolts were swapped out for nicer stainless bolts too.

Amazing how fast it comes together Col, when its painted and all the coated bits go on its like it is all shiny and new again seems weird as you dont need to scrape off the muck when done !

More fettling was achieved last night but not up at the car but in my garage this time as I still have parts there that need work.
First thing was to convert the headlamp bowls to wok with the H4 headlamps I recently purchased.
The headlamps I bought have a sidelight as well as the main bulb so a bit of adjustment and customisation was required not only to get access to the H4 bulb if it needs replacement but also the sidelight bulb. The large hole was cut last week for the H4 bulb replacement but I didn't realise til last night that another would have to be cut not only in the bowl itself but also the lamp retainer that sits behind the lamp.
See if this makes sense when you see the photos.
A 90mm hole cutter was used initially to get a hole in the back of the bowl where you have to be careful not to remove the tab for the spring that holds the lamp. This hole allows the replacement fo the H4 bulb more easily.
A further two holes were made to get the lamp to fit and further help replace the sidelight bulb at the bottom of the bowl. A 25mm hole for the inner bowl then I used a 45mm hole cutter for the outer bowl.

Once I did all of that to the bowls I turned my attention to the foot pedals which have been sitting about half finished for ages. All painted and now with some skateboard grip tape on the pedals so they are now non slip.
Be back upto the car tonight to fit some of this.

More shiny bits, nice one Colin, the headlamp mod is one I forgot to do so I still need to pull them out and cut access.

Did you look at that self adhesive D seal for the headlamp surround, should fit nicely against the body, its only to keep the worst out. Even with the remade seals I put a bit of silicon grease around them now and again as they are not as full proof as a proper seal that fills the space

it was only last night i noticed i would need to cut an extra hole into the bowl and the inner one too. I fitted new chrome outers which threw up the issue when I tried to fit the lamps into the bowls.
Not looked at the seal problem yet but will later tonight when I fit the lamps. I was thinking i may be able to make use of those door seals that didn't work that i have. Take them up with me and see.

coming on lovely , I did my holes as mirror image , bowls are the same for both sides , its just the bracket thats different , this means moving the passenger side wire hole over an inch or so and cutting the other side of the bowl out
