With the Imp in the booth and having space to have doors open and bonnet and engine cover all on stands I could get a good look at what needed filling and fettling before paint. Clean and mask it all up easily,
Tape up and etch.

first coat of primer filler then onto a guide coat


Many hours of fine tuning the swage lines on the side of the car and more coats of primer filler it was ready for a splash of colour to take it to where it is now December 2019 nearyt 10 1/2 years after I bought it. :D

Had a wee go last night rubbing down the final top coat of colour and afterwards cleaned up the wiper motor.
Also modified the headlamp bowls for the H4 headlamps so it has easier access for changing the bulbs

Last night was the night for the clear coat or lacquer as we all used to call it before Chip Foose got on the telly...
Tonight i went up with my son and we demasked the car and trial fitted the newly lacquered wheels too.
Pretty chuffed with it and will hopefully be better once i buff it all up in the New Year.

Let's hope so John. It has taken a decade to get this far. Really hoping to have it running in 2020 as it will be 50 then so a big milestone for it.. Has to be done really .

So a day out in Bannockburn visiting John yesterday I came, away with a few spares and a gallon of waxoyl, cheers John. Good catch up too..
Today the waxoyl was applied to all the cavities o ce it was thinned a d warmed up a bit to get it to flow into all the nooks an crannies.
Afterwards it was time for the sound insulation to be fitted.
Roof first.
Happy with the result I moved onto the parcel shelf and the upright of the rear seat area, first filling in the lower parts of the ribbed sections before fully sheeting the whole area.
More will be done on Sunday now.

Nice one Colin, its a nasty job isn't it, I blocked the end of the nozzle twice and was treated to a spray or two out the breather hole in the shutze gun while sticking the flexi down the window pillars. I was stinking, 2 shwoers later and still smelling the stuff.

You seen my sound deadening, you just had to make that so tidy right

You find somewhere for the amalgy wadding yet., that would have been nice infill for the troughs on that back shelf

What are the seats out off ?

I have a immaculate pair of MGB leather seats with headrests to put in the chammy, still debateable as I would need to change whole interior to black and I would like to keep the ochre interior.

It was a messy job indeed and like you the hose blocked a few times and it came of twice aswell covering me and its of the car in waxoyl. Some mess it makes it it blows lol.
The sound dreading is not that neat as I'd like but it will do. The carpet going over it is the 4 way stretch stuff used on vans so isn't that thick so I need to have the sound deadening as neat as I can.

The seats I have are from a BMW M3 I was told.

Maybe you shouldook at Alfa Romeo seats as they come in several colours, grey, red cream or black I am sure.

Oh you wouldn't have headlining stringers for a Mk3 would you?
Dug out my 3 from storage in the attic that have been there for ages and I forgot how rotten they were. 2 of them have rusted away at one end and are now shorter than they should be...

Col, Yes I will have some spare of those somewhere. I will get a look, I am heading down to Pauls to have a look at his Imp and the turbo engine as I think its running now, had to add oil pressure constraint feeding the turbo is what he said was the secret joojoo this time

Oh it should be a spare set of J plate 3 loop ones I have as Peter is right, the early cars had 4 but yours will be a 3

Thought you might have John , cheers. Failing that I may just make them as I know they are all differing lengths from the factory and for each one as luck would have it I have them piled in one lump so all out of order anyway.

I spoke to Paul yesterday and he gave me the run down on the turbo conversion. .Sounds very promising and if your down at his you will no doubt hear it for real too.
