I thought you meant the heater "in the hall" for a minute. :)
If it's the SL best to stick the code reader on it to confirm first.Patrick McGrorty

Anybody give me a loan of the Ladybird book.. "Wiring your Hillman Imp for simpletons"..????? It will have to have the appendix with the Honda Blackbird engine and wiring loom in it too..... Its a rare one I believe..
I have 3 indicators working, the rear lights, brake lights aswell but not with the Imp brake switch(it could be fubered as its the original one) and one headlight that's on full beam .. To be fair the othe headlamp isn't wired up yet.
Frustrating doing the electrickery bit I'm finding.. All hocus pocus so it is..

Brake switch is just that, a switch, they are 'orrible and can get stuck or held fast if left not covered in fluid for a bit.
I would junk the pressure switch and just go for a microswitch on teh pedal Col.
You can test the switch easy enogh, its two terminal and isolated from the body, just short the terminals and see if they work. If all is well just change the switch, cheap as chips.

The brake lights work if I use the existing Blackbird wiring which is also wired into the Imp switch so must be fubered as its old. A micro switch will be the most reliable I think. Can get those no bother.
I'm working on getting the lights all working with the original bike switchgear first then hopefully transfer it to the Imp switches. Once I have the wiring all extended and altered.
It's getting my head around it is the big problem, wiring always has worried me. Give me an engine or welding anytime over that...
I know I will get there in the end, its just taking a long time it feels.. Frustrating is an understatement!!!!
Cheers

Colin, it is honestly just a process.
You are making life a little more difficult keeping the vast amount of the bike loom unless you are using the bike controls.
Example the side/main/dip/brake/inidcatorsblower motor/horn/spots require nothing from the bike wiring, it can all come out.
All you need is one fused 12V and another switched 12V from a relay, if you are using the existing imp indicator stalk that is
Things like fuel pump control, electric fan control are all better from the bike ECU if it supports it.
I could draw you a diagram for the basic car stuff in no time Col, just add 12V "here" and off you go. Means taking a few steps back and undoing some of what you have already done, but that be car building

So tonight I got the indicators working at both ends and in the correct order. . Still completely or near enough on the Blackbird loom switchgear. Should be easy enough to transfer over to the Imp steeriing column.
Headlamps, horn, heater and wiper motor shortly. We'll this weekend I'm hoping.
Cheers

So I have the wiring sorted for my lights and fuel pump and figured out the issue with the wiper motor after Scott popped down on Sunday with a spare motor. Swapped them over and it was my motor that was the problem along with seized or at least stiff wiper cable which I will need to change over so means the dash and roll cage at the front will need to be removed again. Scott also figured out the headlight wring I was having issues with and getting nowhere with due to me trying to get the bike wiring to work with the Imp switches.
I would still be staring at it trying to use the Force for them to work still if he hadn't come done so a thank you to Scott for his help with the wiring, A big relief that it now working as it should.
The Pest needs to be moved from where it is so it is back on its wheels once again so I can finish the wee brackets on the engine frame, paint it, fit it to the engine then refit it to the car with engine and diff so it can be moved.. All in the next few weeks.
You will get your marquee framework back soon John . A huge thank you for the use of that too as it has been brilliant allowing me to paint the car and progress it to where it is now. Would have been a struggle in my wee garage for sure.
As it sits at the moment.
Cheers

Thanks John,
Should have the engine frame painted this weekend as I have all the extra welding finished tonight on it so will be back at the shelter/barn tomorrow evening.
Cracking shelter come double garage for your two classics Imp an 356 for sure. Will get it back to you ASAP when I move everything to its new (temporary) home.
You will only need those missing uprights if your going full size with it at yours.???
Cheers

Col, I am still chasing planning for a double garage at front of house here for the 356 and the imp, hopefully high enough to put a ramp in. However planning is a bit troublesome.
I have been uildinga 3D model as its near impossible to imagine there is space for it where I want but there is, so i am having to model the house and the new garage/outbuilding
This was the status before I buggered up the front garden slope, the software has limitations so I went with one used by Dan instead, bit more of a learning curve but hey ho.
The frame will be going up full size at bottom of garden at Nr 25 next to mums as workshop, been trying to find a decent workshop but looks like just keeping the house to use for storage space and workshop will be cheaper !/ John

John,
I was thinking that's where your plans were for building the double garage for the two cars. Looks good aslong as there's no objections and the planning department are cool with it. Fingers crossed for you.
Early start this morning with a little bit of painting going on. I primed the engine frame yesterday so got a bit of colour on it earlier this morning so I could possibly lacquer it later today.
Hoping to have the engine etc all in later this week if it all goes to plan.
John may have your framework back not long after that
Cheers
