John,
Id like it done asap as I want to drive it loads .
So the to do list is.
Get the brake lights working once again(they stopped working when I tried to wire up the dash)
Fit dash on properly and permanently. Only a few bolts
Hose for the windscreen washers
Wire up the front rad fans
Tighten rear hub nuts to correct torque
Wire up temp gauge in dash
Sort out the rev counter so it shows the correct revs. ( it shows revs but definitely not the correct rpm on dash)
Find leak from water pipe/pump at engine and sort out.
Bleed the brakes once again as they are a touch soft and squidgy
Wet sand paint and polish although not necessary for MOT
Hook up the number plate lights..
Think that's about it for now.
Oooh!! Forgot about wiring in the heater as well.Last edited by Colimp66; 1 May 2021, 01:17 PM.

So a wee catch up and update today.
I managed to strike of some of my previous list of things to do and had a thought I would be ready for the MOT tomorrow but that won't happen unfortunately.
Still have wiring gremlins that have me running round in circles, possibly as I just cant get my head round them as its all hocus pocus to me to be honest.
Anyway I have sorted out the rear brake lights, indicators, number plate lights, horn and windscreen wipers so that's something I suppose. Still no heater, temp gauge or tacho that revs properly but I don't have any leaks anymore and it fires up no problem now as well .
Going to see if I can get to the bottom of the temp gauge and the fans tomorrow though and if not I may be needing help from someone that knows about the black magic of electricity.
Fitted the from bib spoiler I made up and the number plate.. (A bit wee possibly officer???)
Cheers

I still cant drive so not much i can do or I would have taken a run down.
The fans are under control direct off a temp switch ? if so its as simples power, ground, up to temp, action. East to check
Tacho different matter, the ignition systems on bikes seem to be based on wasted spark and so give twice the pulses or 1/2 the pulses depending on setup.
Happy to help if I can Col

John,
No worries about not being able to pop down to help with the wiring, I am sure I will figure it out. I'm thinking it could be a dodgy temp gauge and I have a new spare one to try today.
The rev counter isn't really a big deal to be honest, it does show the engine is revving but my ear and the revs on the dash don't seem to be in tune with each other. I seem to think it is revving higher than it is showing. Maybe its my ear that's all out of whack????
I may give you a call later if I cant suss it out.
Cheers

Thanks John,
I managed to check out the existing temp gauge and it was foobered.. I had ordered a new one from Ebay, cheap an cheerful to see if that would work and it seems to do the job so out with the old knackered one and in with the new cheap one.
I am now thinking the fans may not be working as I cant get them to spin up. Will just need to go faster to get air through the radiator I suppose .
Cheers

Do the fans work on their own Col ?
Should be 12V > Switch > fan +VE > Then Fan -VE to GND
Assuming you have just used a hose or rad mounted temp switch.
If fans work on their own, switch works OK on its own and wires check out OK< perhaps the coolant is not hitting the switches "on temp" to check that just short out the switch terminals.
Just note the temp switch point tends to be rated temp (with tolerance) but off temp tend to always be below coolant temp depending on the lag in the metal around it colling and then the sense strip inside.
