Ive come to the conclusion that my Love for Imps is waining off .
The new pump has stopped dripping and is now leaking a fair bit , that is without me even touching it or starting it again .
The Water pump is truly a crap design and although it works well ( when its working ) it really is an abomination of a thing.
Feck Imps , they sometimes do my head in big time !!!!
Rant over .

I'm pretty sure the recon. one we put in Mildred had some sort of problem too with either a leak or a dodgy bearing.
John will likely remember.
Mike does these refurbed at a reasonable cost.
Often wondered if anyone has tried an electric pump in any Imps.Patrick McGrorty
100% MK 1 just as rootes intended it, no mods, no problem

Dave, I gave up chasing pump issues on NOS stuff which seems to be as buggered as the old ones when I try them on the green chammy. I must have went through 4 pumps in a week and a couple of repair kits, the faces were fine
I ended up sending a NOS to get an exchanged refurb one, no more isues. I nearly set fire to that damn car ust because of the drips !
Unfortunately now Dave I assume they are all buggered. I know Mike was thinking of making a test fixture to test pumps for this very reason.
Does Robin not do a new type seal kit thats ceramic.
They have been behaving for a while Dave, they were due to misbehave a little iove the old sods a break and take a Guiness. Works for Pat, get stressed, 6 pack, no more stress

I have a feeling I've read this before about the water pumps having a wee to themselves Dave.
Walk away from the offending item and have a beer and go back to it another day. I've done that many a time with my restoration over the years. It doesn't fix it but sure stops you from throwing it as far as you can or putting a hammer through it.
I'd think, I may be wrong but nos stuff won't be any good now as it's so old and possibly hard regarding the seals anyway that a leak is inevitable.
Is there not new seals that can be used on the Imp pump?
Good luck with it and don't let it disheartening you too much.. It's just Imps
You know you love them really

With the Vusky not exactly going anywhere anytime soon ive taken the opportunity to service and upgrade the little alternator .
I originally upgraded from 40A to 50A but have gone a stage further and upped it to 60A , Should help with the twin halogen headlights , hazards , upgraded wiper motor etc etc .
Ive also moved the main terminal post 180˚ so its at the bottom , more room at the top as its a bit tight on a Van / Husky .
Might fit it this weekend if i can be bothered
