Cross member corner repair
This must be the most botched piece of an imp that I know of other than sills![Smile](https://www.hillmanimp.org/core/images/smilies/smile.png)
I have seen silicon, fibreglass, even patch pieces welded to the crear cross member ! as no-one ever wants to drop all the back end to do it right.
Overall this took me about 4 hours today, from cutting out, cleaning, making the patch peices.
There seems to be a train of thought that the welding is the problem, it is not. The welding itself was only say 10 minutes tops![Cool](https://www.hillmanimp.org/core/images/smilies/cool.png)

It is all cut, shape, prepare, make it the best fit you can. Nothing you can do with the welding torch can ever make up for a badly fitting patch piece
I think Malcolm Anderson used to make heavy duty replacement parts for these areas as they take such a pounding
