Welcome to project Doris ! a 1963 hillman imp MK 1, car 5056 to leave Linwood makes her appearance for restoration in her 60th year.
The hope initially was to have her at Coventry for her 60th birthday in May this year but loads of factors all at the same time came into play and it never happened.
Having a 4 week programme of works to replace the workshop roof turn into months did not help matter at all. Y
We have a brief intro to Doris here, an actual walk around the stripped car pointing out the wonderful bodge work that caught me unaware in the beginning.
The third clip has some audio loss initially but still shows some of the panels we will be using from ex-pressed steel panels to restore the car.
Perhaps restore is a strong word, sounds like she will be mint when she is finished. In reality rescue and repair would be better and I will be trying a few approaches that would never be taken by a professional restorer like Col Rooney, Clark Dawson, Graham Crompton, Scott Clements and many more. Their work is excellent and prize winning.
Something to aspire to but practically I wont manage it. Enjoy (meow)
