Having decided I can't deal with the low speed fuelling problem of the link pipe between 1,2 and 3,4 on the EFI Stromberg manifold I've gone to the Solex EFI setup. So NOTHING else has changed about the engine it's just a straight comparison and I can tell you it's not looking good for the Solex beyond 4kprm. The minute I started driving it on the Solex manifold I could tell it had lost power at the top but the resultant volumetric efficiency tables tell you just how much. To… draw one data point out, the S

To… draw one data point out, the Stromberg manifold has the same VE at 2.5krpm and 6krpm. The Solex has 27% less VE at 6krpm than at 2.25krpm. Remember nothing else has changed, just the choke size and the manifold, both are registering full manifold pressure so the choke shouldn't be the limiting factor, if it was a choke problem there would be a vacuum and the VE table wouldn't go to 100 in the top right. Also note how choppy the Stromberg fuel map is low down with that link pipe causing havoc with the fuelling. Anyone racing imps, this is a massive difference in power, I know everyone hates strombergs but the basic manifold flow is far superior
