Want to know some of what the area centre gets up to ?
Ian the Linwood Area Centre Organiser kicks off the short video showing off his Imp which is a stunning car
Closely followed by Scott Fanning with the BMW powered Rally car.
NOTE : The Rally car introduced by Scott is the actual car that Hugh and Scott drove in the Monte Carlo rally down to Monaco ! and a credit to the fellas engineering capability.
Hugh follows up with one of Hugh and Scotts other cars which is a Clan Crusader with its BMW powered power plant it has over taken me more than once on the windy roads with ease !
Then of course Joe McMillan showing off Doris which is one of the cleanest and most polished cars insid and out than any I have seen. Not sure I agree on the porsche comments though :D
The Hillman Imp is perhaps one of the most unlikely icons to emerge out of the motoring industry during the 60s and 70s. It’s rocky road to production and during assembly never really hampered its relatively impressive sales figures. The Imp was designed to rival the hugely popular Austin Mini and in 1963 manufacturing began. Rootes Group chose Linwood in Scotland to build their little economy vehicle and it's perhaps this geographical position that has helped the Imp overcome its problems and become a “working class hero” in its own right. A classic.
