On my day off, last Monday, on Halloween, I ended up going from London to Hertfordshire in the Imp, to get some ignition parts. The company was interesting, Accuspark, you go in there and they've loads of bucket seats, steering wheels like Mountney etc, chrome lights, those Tudor washer bottles, etc. Apparently they used to be MG specialists but now focus mostly on ignition. Last time I had electronic ignition it was external to the distributor, it was Lumenition I think and was fitted onto the bulkhead. This one seems to have an electronic ignition module within the dizzy where the points would have been. Came across a nice village called Toddington where the Imp is pictured here. So having only recently acquired the Imp I'm focussing on upgrading it for reliability - this ignition conversion, alternator conversion, high efficiency rad, with additional electric fan at rear, 74 degree thermostat and some other repairs. Col Rooney is going to start this work on it next week so we'll see where we get. Also, just a question, I heard that these days there are some BMW alternatives to the rotoflex couplings. Has anyone got any info on these ? Also, the dizzy here is 45D but the car is a 68 - should I have got the 25D or will both models fit ? Strangely, that night, having done about 100 miles round trip in the dark and rain, it broke down once I got back to my drive ! Charging issue - then it started again 2 days after - sth to do with the halogen lights but still on dynamo perhaps. That night I had to push the car back into its space and my neighbour was asking if I wanted a push - first experience / reminder of the downsides of this hobby. Or was it a Halloween curse ? ?‍♀️?⁉️
