Photo for attention, picture of a genuine wing, and the tooling
30 years ago, I made this tooling, it’s been used once 20 yrs ago as a crash tool, 25 pairs were pressed, but the panels were rippled, so I sold them cheap.£95 a pair iirc
16 yrs ago, they were used on the rubber press, 10 pairs were pressed, which made them expensive, and the headlamp flange was not formed.
As times have moved on, cars values have increased, and it’s now worth the investment in making a proper wing, that will fit, and be affordable.
Today the tools are with a leading Jaguar spares manufacturer, who are manufacturing the missing 3rd piece of the tool, the sheet holder.
This will allow the metal to be drawn around the die, and make a panel without ripples.
I’m promised some panels before national, ,,,,
This will now end the thankless task of welding part panels into the front wings, removing distortion and filling the joins.
