So my suspension drama continues......
Just fitted my new montes and it’s now looking great, and finally puts to bed the fact I’ve been running springs of unknown origin, so I’m happy!
HOWEVER......Who runs Gaz shocks, and has anyone had issues with them?
A bit of history: I fitted new Gaz shock at the front 5 years ago, and 3 years ago, going to national one failed in that it was knocking so badly I pulled off the motorway 4 times as I was convinced the wheel was falling off, some may remember me changing them out at National for NOS items. It seemed that stopping for a break reset whatever it was and returned in a big way after 10 miles or so. I sent the offending shock back to Gaz and they fixed it with no charge as it still looked brand new. I refitted them, and they have been fine.
A few weeks ago I have another knock, it’s very random, and after checking everything over...again, I decide the only thing not replaced is the rack, so Bob rebuilt one for me, he mentioned he couldn’t initially see anything wrong with it, but my knock had gone. Happy days.
Today I do my spring change, and once done take it out for a spin, and after a few miles it feels odd, crashing over Over bumps, and randomly knocks!!
I have removed it to find that manually moving it , it has a clunky feel, and gives little resistance, and the adjustment make no difference at all??
So it’s obviously faulty. I’ve got no idea if its the one that failed before, or the other one, as I’ve had the front suspension apart so many times now trying to find this issue. I’ve put the NOS ones back on now, but one of these also has a clonk too!! I’ve used a stethoscope and been in the pit, had 2 friends also check it out too, and even swapped the 2 over to check I’m not going completely mad.
I’ve now been out with the good shock of each brand and it’s perfect!!
