My diagnostic on the Vuskys debackle yesterday night .

    Problem to requote myself.

    Massive random misfire ,

Unable to go above 40mph no matter what.

Unable to go into 4th at all , 3rd down hill was just possible but 2nd gear only on the flat.

Bad Backfire on slowing down ( if you call driving about in 2nd any kind of speed ? )

Tickover was " just " possible but it stalled out twice on the way home at junctions - it did restart though .

Get home - cuss , swear , leave for 5 minutes whereby it started and ran fine .

    POSSIBLE CAUSES

Condenser breaking down ( most likely given the symptoms )

Coil breaking down ( unlikely as if these go open circuit when hot but recover when cooled down you stop dead .)

Rotor arm going to earth ( again recovery doesnt usually happen) Fuel pump fail .

    Fuel blockage / carb issue.

So going on this part of self recovery i went on condenser ( unlikely given who it came from but possible ) which i changed .

    Or Fuel issue .

I now recon it was fuel and it was basically running on one carb only , There must of been a blockage either in the needle valve or the jet . Thing is it has one of Bob Pictons in tank filter and one built into the SU pump so i can only guess that whatever it was was already sat in the carb waiting its turn.

Second trip out was twice as long and the same route on the same night and it ran fine .

Any thoughts or have i missed something ???
