So, with the values of good imps on the rise, and the available cars to restore becoming rustier, the thought has to be on how to reconstruct safely what once was deemed unrestorable.
The body jig I have will help realign anything that’s distorted, but the main stumbling block is the rear suspension mounts and the surrounding floor. Having rebuilt this area, and made a budget floor half tool 20 years ago to do this job, when the cars were less valuable, thought have to turn to the next stage.
If a complete jig built floor assembly was to be available, complete with rear suspension mounts, seat frames and inner and outer sills , would there be enough demand or interest in this.
I would imagine that this assembly spot welded together would cost around £3000,
Thoughts please
