Hi all, took a clutch off an engine yesterday. Mk1 engine (but might be mk2 block), was surprised the clutch is a mk2 item, 6.5 inch across. Even more surprised to see that it looks brand new. I would not normally re-use a clutch friction plate but if it has zero wear it would be a waste not to. I measured the width of the plate with digital calipers and they show it as being .322 to .326 inch thick. The Haynes manual states the thickness of a new plate is .282 to .292 inch so this "used" plate is substantially thicker? The metal cover plate had 6 upright yellow springs and only three large / wide fingers with curved retaining springs holding the centre thrust on it. This also looks new. No markings on either part stating the make, not like any imp clutch I have seen before? It worked fine when the engine was in the car, wondered if it is not an imp clutch?
