Has anybody on here investigated moving the thermostat to the input-side of the cooling-system? Mitsubishi new engine-designs from about 1992 onwards appear to have done this; my L300 4wd has lasted well through a lot of hard work and is still happily wearing all 16 original valves at 270,000 km. It's difficult to get a photo due to the front diff etc but we used to have a '93 Mirage with similar setup. What my photo shows is the radiator bottom-hose going into the thermostat housing, along with a steel tube for Bypass and Heater-return; all of this is attached to the rear of the water pump. Clearly, Bypass coolant would have to reach the thermostat or it would never open! Comments please?
