The old winder was left abandoned and was thought to be the oldest in the Durham coal field left in situ, it was thought the whole internals were bought 2nd hand back in 1825. After locals tried to save it, in the early 180s it was lost to Demolition. The massive pit heap the Colliery had was taken away (was still on fire when they moved it)is now a Golf course.
