So what do you use for a rollover igs, rotisseries for the imp singer chamois sunbeam stilletto or imp van ???
They are indeed very handy, but need used with GREAT care as Imp Shells are not the most stable when cut up.
The best one I found that I had my eye on was from CJ AUTOS
Does a lot more than just an Imp, raises and lowers to floor level and rotates/lowers for access with ease and on castors, but expensive and not so easy to store when not in use, would be perfect for someone doing it as a day Job. It is also nearly £1000
So I eventually found this one which can be bought as cut steel "stock" for you to weld yourself, pre-welded sections flat packed is +£50 for you to assemble and it comes supplied unpainted so no added cost there. This came from ROLLOVERJIGS.COM online
I opted to take the jig flat packed and pre-welded, service was great and only £235 in standard form WITH the bars to fit the Imp, pick Hillman Imp during checkout.
If you want it on castors they have a castor kit which lets you move it around. It adds a few quid though and you could do this part yourself, good quality heavy castors are cheap
The lowereing / levelling kit is a pain in the backside, you can raise / lower the car from ground up anyway without it, I will leave you to figure out how
Paint wise I uses Besa URKI Rapid 70 One Coat, a really tough industrial paint usually used for machine rooms and plant, quick scuff with scotchbright and you will be taking it off with a grinder if you ever need to, I have tossed fuel, paint, thinners, brake fluid and even a small fire and it still intact coating wise.
Shown here used on 2 cars, for storage it flat packs and fits under the bench.
For actual restoration tips, examples visit Col Rooneys Facbook pages under CA Restoration & Fabrication for some of the best examples of Imps undergoing resto you will find anywhere.
The cars below are not examples of Colins work, they are mine, Colins work is much much better !
