Well I reckon I could have done an imp in same timeas spent on the van.

Todays fix list after the cluster went nuts

Sort wiring on lower engine and replace the temp wadding around the injector pump wiring and repair the insulation where it was chaffed

Then found something rattling around the radiator fan frame, the big resistors for fan control had broken off its spot welds and was lying around loose

A song "I want to break free" comes to mind but radiator fins not the best place for sharp metal terminals to be rattling around.

cant buy them new so botchery was then applied and it is now soldered back together and blobbed up. Cant buy these as a seperate part and 226 plus vat for a new radiator fan frame is 1/2 what the damn thing is worth and I only need this liottle bit so not happenning

Finally the lectrickery was applied using resistance box to check ECU and cluster, more wiring chased back and of course the Cylinder Head Temp Sensor was reading 900 ohms but it needs 3000+ to sit at cold, so new sensor collected and fitted

All done, starts on the button and runs great.

Roll on new windscreen and MOT next week and the old bus will be rolling once again.

The van is really just another Imp to us

Talking of windscreens , garage next door had a stroppy customer , his car failed mot so they contacted him and said it had failed on windscreen wipers ,would he like them replaced? yes , so they were replaced , Next day he's back complaining of scratches on his windscreen , to be told ,your old wipers have done that (quick show him original wipers , well passed usable, now with nicely cleaned screen via new wipers ,scratches show up , after much loud voices customer (regular customer at that) leaves vowing never to use garage again .

Yip, we used to have retail shops doing sales, repair and service. Myself and Pat could tell you stories that you would most likely never believe.

Now MOTd as of today and alive, been a complete basket of a task but all is now good nice comopliments from the fellas on the work.

They often send vans away after failure and get them back frome "experts" who have repaired them and a second failure is common from what I read between the line, apprantly some of the welding alone is horrid.

This one was a pleasant surprise

They still think we are bonkers but hey ho
