  • Man this is rotten as a pear, we will rebuild

Man this is rotten as a pear at front now, we will rebuild cant let it die after the cost of the DM clutch and FW

Few hours today and thats it tore down, at least the bolts all came out except a few. But bloddy hell, thing the fitted those front struts then bolted dashboard on top.

Was good to get fresh air but wish the feeling would come back in my 3 finger on right hand a bit quicker, was torture trying to grab things.

Imp rot, not so bad !

A little progress. Inner chassis done, A pillar done, Turret Done top part of inner wheel tub, done but had to cut out a lot more as what looked like good metal was just thick paper.

An nope, its getting a scuff up and coated with epoxy and thats as much dressing as any of the welds will be getting ! thats the way they came from the torch, thats the way they will stay.

                A year later

As they say, what a difference a year makes
                • Offside front inner wheel arch - non existant almost
                • Offside front outer wheel arch - disintegrated after a wash
                • Offside front End step section - non existant, Step is OK as I renewed that years ago
                • Offside front chassis leg mid needs cut/patch
                • Offside front widnscreen drain channel - non existant
                • Offside inner sill needs repair
                • Offside outer still at step needs repair
                • Offside rear chassis leg swollen, needs cut and replaced

                Ditto on nearside PLUS
                • Front chassis leg end - gonner
                • Front step section needs serious work

At least we replaced all those bushes already

Really needs put down but what the heck, not beat up any metal for nearly a few years now

As some know I have not done very much for a bit, tried a little on transit the other day but paid the price for that. Completely exhausted. Should have been 2 hours work

Ford not being happy with using metallic coated paper for panels thought it would be good to attach the outer and inner wheel arches with a big foam strip and glue, yip, really, foam, no wonder it gets bogged down with water and rots inside out.

Edge onf inner wheel tub and outer wheel tub completely gone, or at least bugger all worth saving.

So slice and dice and made two sections, repair panel for inner wheel tub section to give same seam as original and the start of the repair panel for the outer wheel tub that meets the arch and wing

And a trial fit of the actual front back edge of the arch.

Dont worry about the step, that was rust pouring through and running down. I changed that full step section and about 10" of floor into the cab around 2016 and its still sound

Cheap ass pattern panel but few hits here and there and its a nice fit. Held in place with a few tek screws for moment

And wing in place for sanity check, lines not perfect but who really cares, now there is a life long lesson from Imps

Good going there John, but take it easy man. Don't wear yourself out on the trannie, you need to finish the Imp first..
I'm guessing the Transit is in the drive though so needs finished to get the Imp out to play?

Good to hear your feeling better though. Take it easy.

Colin, I only have single speed at moment, crawl or go slow did that a few days back, even a day of work work in front of PC is exhausting

I am always pushing it though, got a liitle so-so bad news today but at least it put my mind at rest as to why driving is so difficult.

But yeah, transit is in front of garage and in bits, so nothing going anywhere

Well thate the passenger suide chassis end fixed, not so bad.

Then reconstructed the drivers side outer chassis leg and end, it was a total mess, top totally rotted out

And who says a vise has 101 uses, well it has 102 now as I found out i cant take my welding sleeves off with one hand so if I pinch the end in the vise I can just pull the good arm out
