This only applies to retro fitted carb set ups . The factory Solex and Stromberg response is spot on IHMO.
Anyway to them like me who fit carbs from other cars its sometimes tricky to get the response and pedal feel absolutely spot on , pedal can feel a bit stiff , or the response is either too slow or too rapid .
I found this out on the Singer after fitting Franks Stainless manifold upset my underslung throttle pivot set up on my twin 1 1/4 HS2 SUs , basically there wasnt much room for it anymore , shame as it was fine before .
I was going to go the Stromberg cable route but decided to try this adjustable length quadrant first .
It turned out to be a good idea and also a great learning curve .
I made it adjustable by only 13mm in length , at its longest response is like one half impulse , set on its shortest its like warp drive .
Youd think setting it to the shortest is the way to go however driving in stop start traffic becomes a tad hazardous as its more like launch control .
Come the end its somewhere in the middle , the shorter the lever seems to require a slightly tighter spring so i added a weak one on the end of said quadrant , shortening it automatically gives greater tension and a perfect pedal feel .
So if your response is too slow or too rapid maybe making an adjustable one might be an idea you could adapt to your set up
